Sparked by techs, US stock market elevated on Monday, with the Nasdaq leading the pack, finishing up 207 points or 0.9% to 23,238. The DJIA climbed further on Monday, breaking its peak, following last week's historic breach of 50,000-mark, and reaching a new high of 50,219. It eventually edged up 20 points to 50,135, setting a new closing high. The S&P 500 hiked by 32 points or 0.5% to 6,964.
NVIDIA (NVDA.US) and Broadcom (AVGO.US) fared outstandingly, mounting 2.5% and 3.3% respectively. Microsoft (MSFT.US) spiked over 3%. Meta (META.US) lifted 2.4%. Given optimism about OpenAI and its beneficiaries, a broker upgraded Oracle (ORCL.US) from Neutral to Buy, with its stock price shooting up by 9.6%.
Investors kept tabs on the US January employment report, originally slated for release last Friday but delayed due to a partial government shutdown, which will be published on Wednesday. The January CPI will be released on Friday, with market expecting a YoY rise of 2.5%.
