DJIA Ends Down 422 Pts w/ Toyota, Honda ADRs Sliding 4% as Trump Imposes Extra Levies on Min. 7 Countries Incl. JP & S Korea

US President Donald Trump sent signed letters on Monday to leaders of at least seven countries, including Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Laos, and Myanmar, in which he detailed new tariff rates on each of them, including a 25% tariff on imports from Japan and South Korea.

US stocks experienced a rout Monday. The DJIA once sank as much as 668 points during the day. It eventually ended the day at 44,406, down 422 points or 0.9%. The Nasdaq fell 188 points or 0.9%, closing at 20,412. The S&P 500 slipped 49 points or 0.8% to close at 6,229.

Japanese and South Korean ADRs listed in the US swung violently. Japanese stocks such as Toyota (TM.US), Honda (HMC.US), and SoftBank (SFTBY.US) slumped about 4%, while LG Display (LPL.US) under South Korea's LG Group cratered about 8%.
