The situation in US-China trade negotiations may improve, as US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping may reportedly hold talks this week.
US bourse reversed early losses and closed higher on Monday, the first trading day of June. The Nasdaq led the gains, finishing up 128 points or 0.7% at 19,242; the S&P 500 settled slightly higher by 24 points or 0.4%, at 5,935; and the DJIA added 35 points or less than 0.1%, closing at 42,305.
After Trump announced a hike in steel tariffs to 50%, major US steel-related stocks advanced on Monday, with miners Cleveland Cliffs (CLF.US) closing up 23%. Steel Dynamics (STLD.US) and Nucor (NUE.US) both concluded higher by 10%.
Tesla (TSLA.US)'s car sales plunged in several European markets last month, marking the fifth consecutive month of decline, with Tesla's stock closing down 1%. Meta (META.US) outran among the "Magnificent Seven", soaring 3.6%. Nvidia (NVDA.US) rose 1.7%.
