NVIDIA Jensen Huang Urges G20 to Accelerate AI Adoption, Says Responsibility for Safe AI Development Lies With Companies Rather Than Govt
NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) CEO Jensen Huang called on G20 nations to accelerate the adoption of AI and expand data centers and other infrastructure to promote economic growth.
He said every country needs to build infrastructure in order to support its own economy, describing AI as a "great equalizer". For a country, the "worst outcome" would be to "fall behind".
If public and policymaker fears about AI are allowed to dominate discussions surrounding the technology, countries could lag behind in AI development, he said.
He also suggested that governments should adopt strict regulatory measures for AI, while stating that responsibility for ensuring product safety should rest with companies rather than government officials.
As the technology remains at an early stage of development, regulation should target actual existing harms instead of theoretical hypothetical risks, and every company must take responsibility for developing the technology safely.
