UBS Predicts Apple to Launch Foldable Phone Next Yr w/ Price as Low as US$1,800
16 Jul 2025 09:57
UBS' teardown analysis of Samsung's foldable phone, Z Fold SE, suggested that Apple (AAPL.US)'s first foldable phone, iPhone Fold, to be launched next year may achieve a bill of materials (BOM) cost of US$759, approximately 4% lower than Samsung's US$790, benefiting from cost savings on memory, application processors and camera modules, according to Fortune. However, premium materials increased the cost of the casing and hinge.

Apple's cost control might allow it to price the device at the lower end of the expected range of US$1,800-US$2,000, with a profit margin estimated between 53% and 58%, consistent with Samsung's foldable devices, and significantly higher than the iPhone 16 series, UBS added.
