Mideast Tensions Weigh on US Mkt; DJIA Ends Down 299Pts; Tesla Dives 4%

Investors kept tab on the latest developments in the Middle East, as tensions between Israel and Iran escalate, while Wall Street also digested weak US retail sales data.

US stocks descended on Tuesday. The DJIA settled lower by 299 points or 0.7%, at 42,215; the S&P 500 closed down 50 points or 0.8%, at 5,982; and the Nasdaq, dented by large techs, ended down 180 points or 0.9%, at 19,521.

Tesla (TSLA.US) will reportedly halt production of the Cybertruck and Model Y in Texas for a week, with Tesla shares closing down 3.9%. Apple (AAPL.US) fell more than 1%. Alphabet (GOOG.US) performed the best among the "Magnificent Seven", dipping only 0.4%.
