On Tuesday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the tariff standoff with China is unsustainable, expressing expectations for a de-escalation of the U.S.-China trade deadlock.
Following the announcement, U.S. stock markets posted impressive gains. The DJIA surged by as much as 1,100 points during the session, closing up 1,016 points or 2.7% at 39,186. The Nasdaq Composite leaped over 500 points at its peak, ending the day up 429 points or 2.7% at 16,300. The S&P 500 gained 129 points or 2.5%, closing at 5,287.
The “Magnificent Seven”, which fell across the board on Monday, staged a recovery. Tesla (TSLA.US) led the pack with a 4.6% upswing, while Apple (AAPL.US), Amazon (AMZN.US) and Meta (META.US) each climbed over 3%. Nvidia (NVDA.US), Microsoft (MSFT.US) and Alphabet (GOOG.US) also advanced, gaining more than 2% each.
