Nomura Expects Data Center Operators to Mainly Use Existing H20 Inventories to Cope with Order Backlog

Nomura released a research report saying that the export of Nvidia (NVDA.US)'s H20 chip was restricted, and believing that independent data center (IDC) operators such as GDS-SW (09698.HK) (GDS.US) and VNET Group (VNET.US) rely heavily on the H20 chip to support their domestic business operation in order to meet the demand for AI training and inference.
The broker estimated data center operators' order backlogs to be largely supported by existing H20 inventories, as key customers such as BABA-W (09988.HK), TENCENT (00700.HK) and ByteDance have accelerated the procurement of H20 chips before the restriction takes effect.
