S&P 500 Sets New High at Close Again; Microsoft Adds 1%+ & Apple Inches Up

The Federal Reserve released the latest minutes of its January meeting, during which officials were concerned about risks such as tariffs and expected to maintain interest rates until inflation improves. U.S. stocks advanced on Wednesday.

The S&P 500 hit a record high for the second consecutive day, peaking at 6,147. It also closed at a record high, up 14 points or 0.2% to 6,144. The DJIA closed 71 points or 0.2% higher at 44,627. The Nasdaq hiked 14 points or 0.1% to 20,056.

Microsoft (MSFT.US) lifted 1.3% after launching its first quantum computing chip. US President Donald Trump said he may impose 25% tariffs on imported cars, chips and drugs. Tesla (TSLA.US) added 1.8%.

Apple (AAPL.US) launched a new low-cost version of its iPhone 16e smartphone, which supports AI functions and starts at HK$5,099. The stock closed slightly higher by 0.2%.
